A classically trained actor, John studied at the actor’s conservatory at State University of New York College at Purchase and furthered his education in directing at Texas State University where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He has performed throughout the United States, playing roles from Shakespeare to Neil Simon and is founding artistic director of Weird City Theatre Company in Austin, Texas where he wrote and produced critically acclaimed stage adaptations of FW Murnau’s Nosferatu and George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead.
Mr. Carroll has trained (and continues to train) with some of the top coaches in the voiceover industry. Rick Wasserman (The signature voice of AMC: The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Mad Men) of Bookable Voice Coaching, David Fennoy, and Anne Ganguzza in Los Angeles; Peter Rofé of PDR Voice Coaching in New York; Workshops with Randy Thomas (voice of the Academy Awards, Tony Awards, and The Super Bowl), industry icon Michael Bell (GI Joe, Transformers, Surfs) and Lorie Tritel through their online Master Class, Marc Cashman, Debi Derryberry and J.V. Martin.
When not working, performing or training, John loves to unwind watching animation, old school gothic horror, backpacking and hiking, and of course spending time with friends and family!
